International Women's Day

Today, March 8th is International Women's Day.  A day held throughout the world to commemorate the struggle for women's rights.

Originally called International Working Women’s Day, it was first celebrated on February 28, 1909, in New York in remembrance of a 1908 strike of the International Ladies’ Garment Workers’ Union when 15,000 workers, including many immigrants, marched through the city's lower east side to demand social and political rights.

Since 1996, the UN has assigned a theme to every IWD. This year’s theme is “Be bold for change”.

What she really really loves...

With Valentines only a few days away now is the time to find out what flowers your wife, girlfriend or partner really loves (apart from you that is)....

Most women love a surprise - yes, that means something completely different to the norm.  So this Valentines Day why not make a change from the usual dozen red roses and go for something to bring a big smile to her face.  How about a gorgeous mix of seasonal flowers (you can always include a red rose or two in there).

Alternatively you could include exotics such as Protea - long lasting and love the warmth of central heating...

If you are heading out for a romantic dinner why not ask your florist to make an arrangement for you rather than a bouquet - they will look stunning on the table and you will be the envy of every other diner!

Talk to your florist, a good florist will come up with ideas for you!
